Misspelled FOR traffic
I came across something interesting today which I thought I should share. While looking at my Alexa traffic I noticed something quite bizarre .... 99% of my traffic has been coming from one simple mistake.

I would love to put my hand up and say it was a calculated strategic move to get early traffic to my new site, however, this is not the case. The error in question can been seen to the left. |
The error? I misspelled Stumpleapon.... Whoops, there I go again. I misspelled Stumbleupon in my IMG ALT tags.
Realizing I had made a small boo-boo, I quickly rectified the error. However, the search engines had no intention of updating my site for such a small change.
I am glad they didn't. Or else I may have missed this!

This little screen grab from Alexa.com shows just how powerful a common misspelled word can drive huge amounts of traffic to a website. Shame I didn't purchase that domain name! As I would expect it is getting quite a lot of traffic for people looking for Stumbleupon.
So, in summing up, I hope this post was as interesting for you as it was for me to discover it. Plus, hopefully this post will get my stumpleapon traffic back!
