I am now officially in holiday mode.

Two weeks off my 9 -5 job to focus on setting up websites for myself! Oh yeah, I still have a few client sites to do first, but after I fly though that I am going to set up a cluster of social bookmarking sites.

Why? Backlinking. Pure and simple backlinking. I have a plan to set up around 50 Pligg social bookmarking websites. Pligg is like an open source version of Digg. I am hoping to then make a paid site to allow people to join up and automatically submit to all 50 social bookmarking sites in one hit.

At the moment I am also doing a bit of ongoing SEO work for a Melbourne company that finds and matches venues for people based on their party needs.

I have a list of keywords and have been getting some awesome results with Market Samurai and a brilliant free plugin for firefox called NoDoFollow.

Three of the main keyword phrases I am focusing on are:

• Christmas Party Venues Melbourne
• Melbourne Function Rooms
• Melbourne Venues

Today, I got back into blogging.

Blogging is something I did quite a bit when I first got into internet marketing. But you have to be passionate about what you are writing, otherwise your just wasting your time.

Now when I blog on my personal blog, I type about projects I am working on giving me perfect opportunities to add backlinks to a unique post.

Another brilliant thing about blogging .... tags.

Tags are a fantastic way to let the search engines know your keywords. Why? They also generate their own pages.

Sure, I could set up a heap of different wordpress websites, but if I used the same hosting provider and they were all on the same IP address, that would look pretty dodgy from a search engines point of view. Below are some of the blogs, I have relaunched today for SEO and backlinking.

In the last month or so I have been dabbling with Wordpress. Being a Joomla man, I had a very one-eyed point of view about Wordpress and didn't really think I could use it for commercial sites.

Each day I persisted with it, I found myself liking it even more. Sure, I am still a Joomla man at heart, but have found Wordpress to be very feature rich, with a few handy plugins that leave Joomla for dead.

Here are a couple of Wordpress sites I created which easily could be replicated by anyone, regardless of their computer skills.

I came across something interesting today which I thought I should share. While looking at my Alexa traffic I noticed something quite bizarre .... 99% of my traffic has been coming from one simple mistake.

I would love to put my hand up and say it was a calculated strategic move to get early traffic to my new site, however, this is not the case. The error in question can been seen to the left.

Found an interesting site, which I thought I should share. It's called Xtra Normal - http://www.xtranormal.com/

What's so cool about Xtra Normal? You can make your own mini movies and share them online. You pick your character or characters (up to two) and then set the scene.

You can choose a variety of cool expressions and gestures for your actors and choose their voice and background.

Anywho, it is worth checking out. Here is a quick example of my first attempt at making my video, as you can see I have mastered cinematography (another feather in my cap!). But don't just take my word for it, see what this leading Harvard professor has to say about my skills ;)
